Exclusive gold optic finish for four Axor collections

18 May, 2012 (19:11) | Uncategorized | By: Admin

The designer brand of the Hansgrohe company offers a special service through its Axor Manufaktur which can achieve an even greater degree of product individualisation from an already extensive and diverse Axor range. Hand-crafted custom products are realised at the Axor Manufaktur: extended or shortened mixers, mixers augmented with special finishes, for instance, or products featuring a customer’s initials, emblem or a company’s logo.

The Axor Manufaktur offers architects and interior designers working in the projects business as well as private customers a range of possibilities for adapting Axor products to specific settings or for fashioning them in accordance with their own creative ideas. If technically feasible, the experts at the Axor Manufaktur realise larger quantities of customised versions of products, for example for hotel projects, or even exclusive individual items.

“Our aim is to ensure that people will feel at ease in their bathroom and enjoy their experience with water. We do this by giving them products that are perfect for them in every way”, says Philippe Grohe, Head of the Axor designer brand. “At the Axor Manufaktur, we flexibly implement the diverse individual requests of our customers in the highest quality.”

Extended offer: special gold optic finish
Starting in mid-2012, the Axor Manufaktur will be providing an extended offer to architects, interior designers as well as private customers who will then no longer have to inquire separately about details such as technical feasibility, delivery times or prices. The most popular mixers from four Axor collections – Axor Citterio, Axor Urquiola, Axor Montreux and Axor Carlton – will be available in a standard customised option featuring a gold optic finish.

“In many markets the golden look is very popular. Our aim is to provide architects and interior designers in these markets with even better support in their effort to create the perfect luxury bathroom for their customers. By offering them the special gold optic finish at the Axor Manufaktur as a standard customised option in an easier, speedier way to foster planning certainty, we make work more convenient for our customers,” says Philippe Grohe in summary.

CSR Gyprock celebrates 65 years of history and success

14 May, 2012 (19:07) | Uncategorized | By: Admin

As the first company to introduce paper-faced plasterboard to Australia 65 years ago, CSR Gyprock™ has a proud anniversary to celebrate this year, and stakes its fair claim as Australia’s leading plasterboard manufacturer.

Since introducing plasterboard in 1947, CSR Gyprock™ has been a pioneer for the plasterboard industry. The brand again led the industry in 1968 with the launch of a revolutionary base coat product, known today as Base Coat 45, and the introduction of a patented Control Density technology in 1992.

Over the years Gyprock™ products have helped to build some of the nation’s most prominent public buildings, including the construction of Parliament House in Canberra, the Melbourne Recital Hall and the restoration of the Sydney Opera House.

CSR Lightweight Systems General Manager, Ian Hardiman says, “2012 is an incredibly special year for Gyprock™ and a time to reflect on just what we have achieved, an opportunity to look forward to the future and the growth of our business.”

Gyprock™ has long been committed to managing its impact on the environment and has continually been at the forefront of sustainable building practices, helping to drive industry standards higher.

In 2008, Gyprock™ launched the first Australian-made plasterboard to be certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA), the original EC08™ with ReCore™ technology.

The following year, Gyprock™ expanded its sustainable commercial offering with the pivotal entry of the EC08™ range of boards: EC08™ Partition (the original EC08™ board), EC08™ Fire and EC08™ Impact.

In 2011, Gyprock’s premium 10mm plasterboard product Superchek™ joined EC08™ with a GECA certification, raising the bar for residential plasterboard through an environmental solution with a unique point of difference.

Ian Hardiman says, “CSR Gyprock™ is consistently evolving its practice, which includes a focus on the production of sustainable building products, keeping up with the needs of the marketplace and pioneering the way with latest building practices.

“As a company we are well positioned to assist the Australian building and construction industry to tackle the changes and challenges that lie ahead. We are looking forward to supporting the building trade for the next 65 years and beyond.”

Introducing DBI-SALA™ Nano-Lok™ self retracting lifeline range

12 May, 2012 (19:05) | Uncategorized | By: Admin

Directly attaches to most fall protection harnesses to replace lanyards!

Capital Safety, home of the DBI-SALA, PROTECTA and UNILINE brands of fall protection equipment has announced the launch of the new DBI-SALA Nano-Lok™ Self Retracting Lifelines (SRL). These new SRL’s, an addition to Capital Safety’s extensive line of industry-leading self retracting lifelines, can be used in place of lanyards and can be directly attached to any harness, reducing fall clearances. Compact and lightweight, these SRL’s are virtually unnoticeable to the user when worn and provide the ultimate work site flexibility.

“Capital Safety continues to enhance and adapt products for use in applications across all industries,” said Rick Millar, Technical Manager for Capital Safety Australia New Zealand. “After releasing our range of Sealed-Blok™ SRL’s we saw a need in the field for an extremely lightweight and compact device that can be directly attached to a harness and used in place of lanyards. It is a unique product that will provide solutions across industries.”

The Nano-Lok SRL’s are lighter and smaller than competing products, making them the most compact and lightweight self retracting lifelines on the market. The lightweight design provides the ultimate comfort and productivity, while still being able to protect workers up to 140kgs. The SRL technology retains tension on the lifeline at all times, keeping it out of the worker’s way reducing dragging, snagging and trip falls. The automatic activating arrestor locks quickly to stop falls within centimetres, reducing free fall distances and providing more protection at lower heights. It also features a unique 1.8 metre web lifeline for added strength.

The new Nano-Lok SRL’s have multiple anchorage options. The quick-connect anchorage connector allows the SRL to be attached directly to the back of most harnesses without the requirement of a separate karabiner. Instead of being attached to the D-ring, the SRL attaches around the web, allowing the D-ring to be used for other equipment or rescue. The cab-mount anchorage connector allows the SRL to be attached directly to the cab of an order picker, while the swiveling loop provides a full range of motion.

The SRL’s can also be arranged as a twin-leg SRL providing 100 percent tie-off capabilities. The twin-leg configuration provides continuous fall protection and added mobility when moving from one location to another. This configuration can be used to replace twin-leg shock absorbing lanyards. The quick-connect anchorage connector allows both SRL’s to be attached directly to the back of most harnesses.

SCHOTT supplies glass for the Palace of Tears in Berlin

10 May, 2012 (19:02) | Uncategorized | By: Admin

Special glass from SCHOTT gives the Palace of Tears at the Friedrichstraße train station in Berlin that is listed as a historic building a glass façade that closely resembles the original. The Berlin authorities for the preservation of historic buildings decided to have the restoration glass Tikana® from the technology group SCHOTT installed as part of the renovation work on the building that dates back to the sixties. The glassy pavilion was used as a terminal building for westbound border crossings during the GDR era.

The head of conservation selected the restoration glass Tikana® for two reasons. On the one hand, it was the only product that accurately copies the historic, slightly irregular glass used in the early 1960s – and not just from a visual standpoint. Even today, SCHOTT still manufactures it using the traditional Fourcault glass-drawing process that was quite common back then. Here, the glass melt is drawn from the melting tank with the help of a drawing nozzle and then transported vertically upwards.

On the other hand, SCHOTT was the only company that was able to produce the glass panes in the statically required thickness of six millimeters and the dimensions necessary. For example, model panes of up to 2794 millimeters in height were needed for this project.

SCHOTT combined the desired optical and structural properties with the advantages that modern insulating glass offers with respect to thermal insulation. An insulated glass laminate that consists of the restoration glass Tikana® on the outside and a float glass pane that features a heat insulation coating on the inside was used in the Palace of Tears. Bollinger und Fehlig Architekten GmbH oversaw the restoration work. They worked together closely with the historic building authorities on renovating the façade and received support from Lichtbogen Metallbau GmbH.

Restored in a modern fashion, yet designed to have that authentic historic look, today the Palace of Tears takes us back to the time before German Reunification. The glassy pavilion was once designed by Horst Lüderitz, the architect of the German Reichsbahn when the Friedrichstraße train station became a border station after the Berlin Wall was built in 1961. Thanks to its large window front, the building appears to be airy and flooded with light from the outside. Nevertheless, the atmosphere in the lines during passport checks was sad when East Germans had to say goodbye to their families and visitors when they returned to West Germany. In fact, this is where the Palace of Tears got its name. Today, the permanent exhibition “Border Experiences. Everyday Life in a Divided Germany” sponsored by the foundation House of History of the Republic of Germany reminds us of what life was like when Germany was still a divided nation.

New solar safety shower and eyewash for remotest locations

8 May, 2012 (19:00) | Uncategorized | By: Admin

A self-contained safety shower and eyewash featuring solar battery charging for use even in the remotest parts of Australasia was introduced by Enware Australia at the Safety In Action Show in Melbourne on April 17-19.

The self-contained unit – which features loading/unloading access for forklift tines or cranes – incorporates a water storage capacity to operate both emergency shower and eyewash to AS4775-2007 requirements.

The unit does not need mains power or additional plumbing connection

Designed for service with mining, oil and gas, defence and heavy industry applications where services are limited, the shower and eyewash ensure optimum water coverage to quickly remove contaminants and irritants from the face, eyes and body – recognising that, with eye injuries in particular, seconds saved in delivering treatment can prevent serious injuries that would otherwise occur.

Developed for reliable performance even in ambient temperatures exceeding 45 deg C, the unit features a heavy stainless steel enclosure with stainless steel construction throughout for maximum lifespan and failsafe operation in harsh environments. Additional insulation options are available where required.

The system operates from a self-monitoring fully independent power supply comprising:

  • A robust battery and dual pump system developed by Enware, which is Australia’s largest emergency shower and eyewash manufacturer, with 30 years of proven product reliability in harsh environments

  • Two solar Enertech 40W solar panel modules connected to a regulator to ensure the two maintenance-free batteries are always ready to go. Built-in battery monitoring helps to achieve maximum cell lifespan.

Supplied standard with water level, water temperature and battery supply indication gauges, Enware can also build units to suit the needs of individual industries.

6 May, 2012 (18:58) | Uncategorized | By: Admin

Interpon Powder Coatings a global brand of AkzoNobel and the world’s leading supplier of paint and powder coatings, today officially announced the launch of the first comprehensive powder coating corrosion protection warranty systems for the Australasian market.

Interpon SteelplexTM the name given to the collective group of warranty systems, will be able to offer up to 10 years corrosion protection and 15 years color and film integrity warranty depending on the system chosen; the coating system used; the environment location of the coated parts; and the substrate to be coated.

Responding to market needs to provide highly efficient, cost competitive coating systems that use environmentally friendly technologies and provide corrosion protection warranties, has been the challenge for the powder coating industry in general – a challenge that Interpon Powder Coatings has met head on with uncompromising energy and enthusiasm.

Backed by exhaustive testing in Europe and a proven track record in anti-corrosion warranties, Interpon already had the solution. The main consideration locally was to ensure that the warranty specifications translated to suit Australian conditions. Australia is well known globally for having some of the most diverse and extreme environmental conditions and Interpon is confident in our ability to not only meet but exceed the needs of our local conditions, and have supported this by offering the first corrosion protection warranty for powder coatings applications in Australasia.

To support the SteelplexTM warranty program it was vital to set a high standard in application guidelines. Interpon conduct an extensive evaluation process and only issue accreditation to applicators who meet this stringent criteria. Our foundation partners, Vertikote Corp in NSW and Coating Services Australia in Victoria can certainly attest to this. Collectively these companies have over 100 years of experience in providing coatings solutions to the powder coating industry. They have the necessary equipment, skills and expertise to fulfil the stringent application processes we have imposed and we are extremely proud to have selected both these companies as the first applicators who can offer Interpon SteelplexTM anti-corrosion warranties.

Interpon’s Australasian Business Manager, Branka Vinaj said “We are extremely excited about the opportunities we are creating for the powder coating industry with these unique corrosion protection warranty systems. We are confident our SteelplexTM warranty systems will further broaden the technology and product portfolio of powder coatings applications.”

Partner our range of high performance corrosion protection coating systems with detailed and rigorous application guidelines, applied by a National network of Steelplex™ Accredited Applicators and you have a best in class system that exceeds the highest levels of quality assurance. These are standards which Interpon customers globally have come to expect from us.

Pittella introduces luxurious bathroom basin range from Italy

2 May, 2012 (18:51) | Uncategorized | By: Admin

Pittella is proud to introduce a luxurious and innovative range of top mount basins for the
bathroom or WC. Offering the discerning customer a range of products in stunning
materials, colours, designs and textures, they offer a luxurious alternative to porcelain or
ceramic. The Pittella Glass Design collection makes a functional object into a standalone
feature.

Using a stunning range of traditional and futuristic materials combined with high quality
artisan workmanship a startling array of products are available that are innovative and lighter
than traditional materials, offering both aesthetic and practical benefits over porcelain and
ceramic.

TeknoForm is a polymer-based material that allows us to mimic a variety of textures, from
mosaics to stone or marble to wood, without the associated cost. An example is the
Travertino basins that provide the same effect as Travertine without the weight or expense.

VetroFreddo is a material composed of glass pigments and resin, offering shapes and
designs without limits. It is hugely versatile and can be shaped in myriad of ways, offering a
choice of transparent, semi-transparent or opaque. Colours available are on our web site.

Alumix is a hi-tech amalgamation of aluminium alloys providing a look that is simultaneously
elegant and contemporary. The basins are moulded and shaped before being baked and
lacquered. They are brush painted by hand employing a special technique to create a biochromatic
effect.

Murano glass offers a timeless, elegant solution and by combining innovative techniques
with artisan workmanship a variety of products have been created. The range offers
innovative shapes with hand-painted patterns that turn any basin onto a true conversation
piece.

Cristallo basins are made form pure crystal with 24 per cent lead content. All products are
created by hand. From a transparent plain black to handcrafted etched designs this is
crystal in its classic form.

From classic crystal to our futuristic Siliconio products, featuring designs based on the
elasticity of this wonderful material. It can be bent and folded in any shape, but will always
return to its original form when released. It is soft, yet resistant to extreme temperatures and
offers a variety of dramatic colours such as those in the Barchetta range that offer the
opportunity to literally set the room alight with mounted LEDs underneath the basin; a
perfect solution for bathrooms or homeowners looking for a special effect.

In addition to the basins we can also provide high-class waste disposal solutions. These
bottle traps are ‘always open’ disposal mechanisms that come in polished chrome, gold or
black and are undergoing WELS approval. We do not provide tapware but have a variety of
approved suppliers to recommend.

The basins are made in a foundry near Florence, Italy and Pittella is the sole distributor of
these products in Australia. A selection from the range can be seen at our Melbourne
showroom at 796 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn VIC 3122 and the entire collection will be
available to view on a specific section of their website.
